Fans of Haddix’s other books like Among the Hidden (or the whole “Shadow Children” series) or Running Out of Time (one of my personal favorites) will not be disappointed with Found. Jonah, who knows he is adopted, and his family move to a new town and strange things start happening. He and his new neighbor/friend Chip both start receiving strange messages. Chip’s parents have not told him he is adopted, but with some sleuthing the kids find out that he was adopted. Jonah’s sister Elizabeth wants to help them solve this strange mystery unfolding in their nice, tidy neighborhood, and finds herself caught in a dire predicament along with the boys. Tie in strange appearances and disappearances, shadows in the bedroom window, a plane that comes in out of nowhere full of babies (!), and a little time travel – and you have Haddix at her best. I love science fiction and am always thrilled to find a new series starting up that piques my interest. I can’t wait for more to come about the “Missing” children.
