• How to Heal a Broken Wing

I fell in love with this picture book when I read it. A boy and his mother are headed somewhere on a busy street when the boy finds a bird on the ground. It is obviously hurt, but no one else walking by is paying any attention to it. With very few words, Graham tells his story mostly with illustrations. The boy’s mother allows him to take the bird home and take care of it until it is ready to fly free again. This is a really sweet picture book that could be a metaphor for many things in life, but mostly it reminds us all to take time to help those in need, and we will be better off for it. Many times, it takes a child to help adults recognize this in the midst of our busy lives.
