I fell in love with this book that explains a concept that is somewhat foreign to western cultures. It’s an unusual blend of artwork and narrative, philosophy and poetry. A cat named Wabi Sabiwonders about what her unusual name means. She goes on a journey across Japan to discover what the concept of Wabi Sabi means. In basic terms, Wabi Sabi means finding beauty through simplicity and natural imperfection. Although the deeper meaning of the book will be over young reader’s understanding, the book’s unusual format and incredible collage illustrations will appeal to both children and adults.
