Has your child read all the Goosebumps and is hungry for more chills? All the Lovely Bad Ones: a ghost story by Mary Downing Hahn is a great next step for older readers. It’s the tale of a mischievous brother and sister visiting their grandmother’s remote Vermont inn. Fox Hill Inn used to attract tourists hoping to sight the inn’s resident ghosts. But the ghosts haven’t been sighted for years and the inn’s business is slow. Travis and Corey decide to create a tourist attraction by faking some apparitions and ghostly tricks. The stunt works, drawing ghost hunters and psychics from all over. But the prank works too well when the hauntings become very real. The fast-paced ghost tale is eerie, but not gory, with a satisfying ending. Just don’t read it if you’re spending the night alone!
