Herculeah Jones is an amateur sleuth who often finds hair-raising mysteries to solve in her own city, with the help of her friend, Meat. In this book, she meets popular mystery writer Mathias King who seems very suspicous as he demonstrates his ability to use a murder weapon described in one of his books. Herculeah discovers that one of his books seems to describe (with alarming detail) a local murder, too similar to be a coincidence, and she sets out to catch him red-handed. But will she fall victim to King and be part of his next novel? Though this mystery is only 115 pages, it is full of intrigue and suspense that will capture older readers who are looking for a page-turner that they can finish in short amount of time.
