Thelonius is a chipmunk that lives at a point in the future when humans have destroyed nearly everything – including themselves. There are legends that humans once roamed – and ruled – the Earth, but not all animals believe in the myth. Thelonius finds proof of the legend after a flood washes away his home, and he finds himself in the ruins of a human city. There Thelonius meets new friends and leaves on a great adventure to the Fog Mound.

The book is told in chapters that alternate between text and graphic novel, so this is a great pick for kids who like graphic novels.
