Arrow to the Sun is a picture book about a young boy who searches for his father. Before he can claim his heritage he has to prove his worthiness by passing the test of four ceremonial chambers. With vibrant colors and extremely eye catching geometric forms, McDermott captures the style of Pueblo Indian art. Arrow to the Sun is an American Indian respect to the source of all life. A reader of any age will be intrigued by this Caldecott winner because of its intense illustrations and the story of finding family.
