Two of my favorite characters from children’s literature are Frog and Toad. These stories still make me chuckle. Each easy-reader in the Frog and Toad series contains five short stories about these two best friends and their daily adventures – from growing a garden, losing a button, flying a kite, and trying to be brave. Toad is often the impatient one, and Frog usually tries to figure out a solution to whatever problem they have – like how to not eat all of the cookies he just made. There is always a funny twist to each story, accompanied by charming illustrations, that kids and adults will both enjoy.

My favorite stories from the series are:
“The List,” “Cookies,” and “The Garden” from Frog and Toad Together (A Newbery Honor Book) & “A Swim” from Frog and Toad are Friends (A Caldecott Honor Book)

    >I believe Lobel is still the only writer to have received both a Caldecott honor (for best illustration) and a Newbery honor (for best writin), and they are for the same series! You just can't go wrong with Frod and Toad.
