This is a fun graphic novel (comic book style) retelling of the fairy tale. In this version, Rapunzel’s mother works in the desolate mine camps that surround the castle. When Rapunzel realizes her true origins, she is determined to free her mother and the other workers. The evil queen leaves Rapunzel stranded in a hollowed out room in a tall tree hidden in the woods. Using her long braids, Rapunzel escapes and sets out on her quest. Along the way she meets the cunning boy, Jack (who is traveling with his precious goose), and together they outwit several villains and finally discover the magic that will bring justice to the land. There are exciting wild west gunfights, some good old fairy tale magic, and plenty of adventure. You’ll never see long braided hair in quite the same way again.
