Test your tongue-twister skills with this humorous, illustrated poetry book by Jon Agee. Some are longer and harder to say than your typical “she sells sea shells by the sea shore,” but many are easy too. Agee was inspired by classic English-language tongue twisters and made new ones about things like purple-paper people, the biggest bubble-gum bubble, and even underwear.

Reading these aloud in a group would be an amusing afternoon activity. See who can make it through the twister faster. The classic tongue-twisters that inspired Agee are from the book A twister of twists, a tangler of tongues : tongue twisters which is in the adult collection of our library.
