Wiggle is a fun, active book for toddlers and preschoolers. The story follows the hula-hooping dog through a very wiggly day. From the moment he wakes up, he is wiggling his tail under the covers and wiggling while making pancakes (“If you wiggle with your breakfast, it might end up on your head!”). Children simply won’t be able to sit still for this book, which is exactly the point. They will be wiggling with snakes and polar bears, with hats and canes and in their underwear. The exuberant language and bright illustrations are a treat for young listeners.
Wiggle was chosen as the focus book for Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week, Nov. 15-22, 2009. The week includes a visit to our library from author Doreen Cronin on Wednesday, November 18, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Kansas Center for the Book organizes Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week each year to highlight the importance of reading to children every day. Reading to preschoolers helps prepare them for learning to read and succeeding in school, as well as allowing them to discover the amazing world that awaits them in the pages of a book.
