Melody is incredibly smart but everyone treats her like she can’t even understand what they are saying to (or about) her. She has cerebral palsy, so she can’t control her body or speak at all. Because Melody has never been able to say what’s on her mind, almost everyone assumes that her mental handicap is just as bad as her physical handicap. A few people, however, see a spark in her eyes and know that she has a bright mind hidden in a broken body. After Melody gets a computer to help her express herself, she is finally able to share what she’s been thinking for so many years. Will her teachers and classmates be willing to listen, though?
