Every old house has at least one mouse, and this old house has a mousewife and her husband. One day the house’s owner gets a wild turtledove from a boy, and she puts it in a cage. Unfortunately, the dove won’t eat or drink. The mousewife takes notice of the uneaten food and takes a risk by squeezing into the cage for the peas. Over a period of time, their friendship develops, and the dove tells the mouse stories of the wild. Even the mouse can see that he longs to be outside again. She wants to set him free, but who will she talk to about the world outside the window once he’s gone?
