The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place is a new series by Maryrose Wood. The first book, The Mysterious Howling, was released earlier this year. The book follows Miss Penelope Lumley, 15, who has just graduated from the Swanburne Academy for Poor Bright Females. She is hired as a governess to three children who have been raised by wolves and have no idea how to interact with humans. Penelope is up to the task and is an excellent governess, but her employers refuse to tell her anything about the children and there are all sorts of secrets about the place. Luckily, Penelope is very sensible and determined–but it is sure to be a very interesting and alarming first job! It’s a bit like a much sillier Jane Eyre for a much younger audience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
