What do you do when you get a sore throat? Stay in bed and maybe take some medicine? Have you tried putting a frog in your throat? No? How about putting on a necklace of live earthworms? You don’t want to? Maybe a dirty sock around your neck will help. You don’t think that will help? Why not? All of these things were seen as perfectly legitimate ‘cures’ for sore throats at some point in history.

I Feel Better with a Frog in My Throat explores the sometimes wacky, sometimes gross, and sometimes actually helpful medical advice throughout history. If you’re sick and stuck in bed, this book is just the thing to keep your spirits up. Just don’t check it out if you’re feeling queasy…
