Nature is full of curiosities, and this book points out some very interesting phenomenon. Each spread features a beautiful (or not, depending on the subject) photograph of something in nature. The opposite page offers hints about what is in the photograph. Open the flap to learn all about it. Some are a little gross, like owl pellets and hundreds of praying mantises breaking free from their egg case. Others are just fascinating, like frost rings forming around vole holes from the moisture of their breath.
What in the Wild? is great for browsing and for sharing. Kids will definitely learn some facts to gross out their friends and parents in this one! It is actually third in a series. The others are Where in the Wild? and Where Else in the Wild? also by David Schwartz.
