A new “classic” Arthur book focuses on ways to be more Earth-friendly. Mr. Ratburn, Arthur’s teacher, challenges his students to come up with ways “to make our planet a better place to live.” Several of Arthur’s friends try out typical recycling ideas, but Arthur focuses on saving energy and water in little ways all through his house. Meanwhile, little sister D. W. starts to worry that the “green machine” Arthur is always talking about is actually turning him green! This is a great picture book to read to kids if you want to talk about remembering to turn off the lights when they leave a room, help in the garden, etc. I am sure it will become a favorite for Earth Day, too.
