Middle schooler Nola is completely bored in her hometown of Alta Donna. Nothing ever happens, until one day she notices something strange about the new kids at school. Just days ago, Damiano didn’t know a thing about baseball, but suddenly he’s the best player on the team, and Ines is so charming that the shopkeepers at the mall give her things for FREE. Then there is the mysterious incident with the school librarian, Nola knows it must be connected to Damiano and Ines, but how? Along with its supernatural elements, Nola’s story deals with the everyday trials of boring classes, divorced parents, and school bullies. Beautiful illustrations in brilliant colors capture Nola’s everyday life, her vivid imaginations, and the truly odd elements of Damiano and Ines’s lives.

Nola’s story continues in Nola’s World: Ferrets and Ferreting Out and Nola’s World: Even for a Dreamer Like Me.

  1. I just stumbled across this triogy recently and can’t put it down! I’ve never read a story quite like it, and the art is fresh!
