Retold by Eric A. Kimmel & Illustrated by Janet Stevens

When Anansi the trickster spider discovers a strange moss-covered rock that knocks him out for an hour when he says the magic phrase, he knows exactly what to do with it. Anansi proceeds to trick all the animals of the forest and steal their food. All of them that is, except for Little Bush Deer. In this clever tale, Anansi gets his comeuppance when he is out-tricked by Little Bush Deer. Kimmel’s tale will have young readers and their parents laughing at the silly antics of Anansi. Stevens perfectly captures the fun in her comic illustrations.

Other Anansi tales told by this pair include: Anansi Goes Fishing, Anansi’s Party, Anansi and the Magic Stick, and Anansi and the Talking Melon.
