None of the nurses at the nursing home believe Lizzie when she says that she had an elephant in her garden, but it’s true. The elephant, Marlene, belonged to the Dresden zoo, but when the Allies started bombing the city, Lizzie’s zookeeper mother brings the elephant home hoping to protect it. Little does she know that the elephant will help to saver her and her family when they flee Dresden ahead of the Russians.

Lizzie WWII adventures present a unique look at the war while the quickly moving plot keeps readers wondering what will happen next. With a touch of romance and a subtle look at the evils of war, this novel focuses on the strengths of family, love, and kindness.
