August “Auggie” Pullman is a kid like any other with one difference – he was born with a facial deformity that strangers find shocking, to say the least. After years of being homeschooled between surgeries and hospitalizations, Auggie and his parents decide it’s time to start 5th grade in a public school. This difficult and emotional year tests Auggie and his family, but their courage and love for each other is amazing.  As Auggie finds out which kids are his true friends, he also learns how to be a tried and true friend.  Wonder is a story of bravery, compassion, friendship and hope. The characters will linger in the reader’s mind long after the story is over.  This book has the power to influence how we see and react to other people we meet who are different from ourselves, whether in small or extraordinary ways.
