A Wish in the Woods by Beth Bracken

Be careful what you wish for! This saying proves to be very true in this story. Lucy and Soli have been best friends their entire lives and treat each other like sisters. Jealousy starts to tear their friendship apart when a boy at school shows interest in both of them! There is a mysterious, magical wood near their school, and Soli makes a wish there that may change their lives forever. This book is told from both of the girls’ points of view and is a quick read.  It’s a good choice for 4th-6th grade readers who are reluctant to pick up a chapter book. It’s also part of a series, and there are three more books that continue the story.
