Accepting Used Books and Other Materials
The Manhattan Library Association accepts donations of gently used books and audiovisual materials to be sold at the Friends used book store, “Rosie’s Corner,” or at the Friends annual book sale in the spring.
Items accepted include, books, DVDs, music CD’s and audio books. Items must be in good condition.
The library does NOT accept the following items:
- Reader’s Digest condensed books
- Computer books
- Tax books from past tax seasons
- Books in bad condition, including moldy, soiled, damp, mildewed or odorous items cannot be accepted.
Bring donations of books and materials to the Information Desk on the first floor of the library.
There is no limit to the number of items people may donate. However, for large deliveries of more than 4 or 5 boxes of books, it is best if donors can make prior arrangements by contacting the Information Desk staff (785-776-4741 ext. 173), and if possible, deliver the books during weekday business hours.
