Public Access Computers

The library has computers available for public use in the Technology Center, the Reference area and the Children’s Room. Library computers provide high speed Internet access and Microsoft Office productivity software.
To use computers you must have a Manhattan Public Library Card and be in good standing (i.e. a current card with no outstanding fines, fees, or lost items.) Visitors who are traveling through the area and do not use the Manhattan Public Library routinely may obtain a one-day Guest Pass at the Circulation desk. A Guest Pass allows visitors to use the library’s computers for up to 60 minutes. Visitors requesting a Guest Pass must show photo identification.

Computer Assistance & Training

Are you a beginning computer user? Contact , 776-4741 x141 to schedule a time to learn the basics, such as using a mouse, searching the library’s catalog or using email. One-on-one training time allows staff to help address your individual needs.

The library has a technology classroom, available for group training, and library-related programs. The classroom is available to businesses, educational groups, non-profit and civic organizations. It is not available for individual use or to organizations or businesses for the purpose of establishing a commercial business or making a profit from the training session.

The classroom is equipped with:

• 20-networked computers with high-speed Internet access
• High-resolution data/video projector and retractable screen
• VCR
• Laser printer
• Dry erase white board
• Laser pointer
• Audio amplifiers, speakers and headphones
• Microsoft Office software suite including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Front Page.
