Teen Summer Reading
Dates: June 1-July 31
Participation: Teens who are entering 7th grade through 12th grade may participate.
Registration: The last week of May, teens may sign up for Summer Reading on the library’s website, or by coming into the library on or after June 1. Even if you pre-register, teens cannot begin tracking the number of minutes they are reading until June 1.
How the program works: On June 1, teens that are registered may begin tracking the number of minutes that they are reading. Each teen will enter their time in their online Summer Reading account, which will be accessible through the library’s website. Or, they can bring their provided reading log to the library, and we will record the information in their online account for them. Teens will record the number of minutes read, not the number of books. They may read books, graphic novels, e-books, and even listen to audiobooks in order to receive reading credit.

Reading Goals and Prizes
- 1 hour of reading = 1 drawing chance in weekly drawings held throughout June and July. For each additional hour of reading completed during a given week, participants earn additional drawing chances. Drawing prizes include restaurant and retail gift certificates, water bottles, magnetic bookmarks, summer reading bags, and books.
- 7.5 hours of reading = choice between a coupon for a free donut or free cookie dough
- 15 hours of reading = prize book plus a coupon for chips and queso
Events: There are also fun teen events going on throughout the summer, at least one event per week. All teen programs are free and require no pre-registration. Come join the fun!
