• Let’s talk about Community Helpers!

Here’s a simple idea to help young children identify community helpers. Gather objects or print out pictures of things the variousĀ helpers would use. You could include items likeĀ a firefighter’s hat, stethoscope, toothbrush, rolling pin, and screwdriver. Place them all in a container and ask your child to choose an object and identify it. Ask them to talk about which community helper would use the item and what they would do with it. Continue with the other items. Children can use the items to act out how they would be used. This idea came from the August/September edition of The Mailbox Magazine. It’s a great resource you can check out from our library.
